Penelope Waterbury’s Senior Farewell

If someone were to ask me what I’m going to miss the most about Woodson after I graduate, I immediately know what I would say: The Cavalcade (including Mr. Springer, of course). For the past three years, being part of the Cavalcade staff has brought me nothing but feelings of joy and fulfillment. When I was a freshman, I had no idea what I was going to be involved in during high school. Admittedly, I’m not very athletic, artistically talented, or musically gifted, so I was at a loss. However, The Cavalcade turned out to be the best place for me. I grew as a writer, made new friends, and found my place in the Woodson community. I felt proud handing out the magazines at lunch and seeing my name in the publication, first as a staff writer and eventually as an editor. The Cavalcade became comforting to me amidst my other stresses, and I am thankful for what being a member of the staff has given me over the past three years. While I will miss The Cavalcade, I can’t wait to see how it continues to grow! Each individual staff member has the opportunity to make a difference, and that is ultimately what is so special about The Cavalcade. <3
